Get a Free QuoteMost "charging port failures" are actually compressed lint from pockets and bags packed into the port. Before booking a repair, power your iPhone off, shine a torch into the port, and gently clean any visible lint with a dry toothpick or a SIM-eject tool. If charging works after that, you've saved yourself a repair.
The charging port assembly on most iPhones is a flex cable that runs from the bottom edge of the phone up to the logic board. Replacement involves opening the iPhone, disconnecting the battery, removing the speakers and the charging-port flex cable assembly, fitting the new flex, and reassembling. Typically 45 to 75 minutes depending on the model.

Most iPhone charging port replacements are completed in 45 to 75 minutes while you wait. For newer USB-C iPhones (15, 16, 17, Air) we allow a little longer because of the tighter internal layout. If we just need to clean lint out, that takes 5 minutes.

Yes — and it's often the case. Apple's Lightning cables are notorious for fraying. Bring your iPhone in with the cable you normally use and we'll try a known-good cable as part of the free diagnostic. If a $20 cable swap fixes it, that's all you pay.
Most of the time, lint. We see this every day. Power your iPhone off, shine a torch into the port, and look for grey/black fluff packed in. If you see fluff, gently clean it out with a dry toothpick (never anything metallic). If charging works after that, you don't need a repair. If lint isn't the issue, bring it in for a free diagnostic.
Possibly — or it might be a worn USB-C cable. The iPhone 15 / 16 / 17 USB-C ports are still robust, so loose-feeling ports are usually because the cable's USB-C connector itself is worn (very common). We test with a fresh cable as part of the free diagnostic before quoting any port replacement.
Yes. A worn port can't deliver the full fast-charge wattage, so iPhones often charge unusually slowly before the port fails completely. After a fresh charging-port assembly is fitted, full charge speed returns — fast charging works to spec, MagSafe (which doesn't use the port at all) is unaffected.
